What are the expect physical standards and language, literacy and numeracy skills required to complete a course with Rapid1st Aid?
It is important to note that there are physical standards which relate to the level of performance required when undertaking accredited training. The HLTAID competency standards require a level of physical ability to provide resuscitation and respond to an emergency situation where there may be risk to life. One requirement of the training package is that you are to be assessed as physically capable of performing uninterrupted CPR for at least 2 minutes on an adult CPR manikin placed on the floor. There can be no exceptions to these Australian Government requirements that are clearly written into the Training Package. Therefore, students who are unable to satisfy the physical requirements of the course cannot be deemed competent or issued with a statement of attainment, even if the qualification is a necessary part of their employment conditions.
Upon enrolment, we will give you an opportunity to provide information on your language, literacy and numeracy skills to complete this course. There is also the opportunity to provide details and communicate any special needs or support requirements you may have. Assistance can be sought from our student support officer at Allens Training Pty Ltd by phoning 1300 559 064.
We provide equitable access to all required educational and support services, so that no student is disadvantaged to be able to enroll into this course regardless of their mode of study or location. Students can organise to meet with their trainer on a one-to-one basis for additional support, plus email and phone contact.
It’s important to note that there is a physical requirement to complete 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on a CPR manikin placed on the floor
Do I need to attend the full course? What I have an appointment or need to pick up my kids?
Students are required to attend the full course duration which is provided prior to attending in the course schedule and confirmation email. There is no guarantee that students will be competent in this time frame but outlines a minimum duration competency can be achieved.
Appointments SHOULD NOT be made close to the scheduled course time and it is best to speak with your trainer before the course if you have concerns about completing the course on the day, normally you should ask to move your course to a date where you can attend for the full duration as all components of the course are mandatory. If a student needs to leave for an emergency on the day, the additional assessment not completed may be completed on another date subject to trainer availability. You can speak to a Rapid1st Aid team member by calling .
How Long with my first aid course run for?
Rapid1st Aid will normally run a mixed mode course with pre-course material before attending on the day. A face to face course is a longer duration see below.
The times indicated represent the MINIMUM duration in which competency can be achieved.
For more detailed information on courses visit https://www.allenstraining.com.au/courses/first-aid-courses.aspx or https://training.gov.au
I have completed a CPR and or First Aid Course in the past, do I have to attend the full course?
You may complete a refresher course. This option allows you to complete the blended course without having to do online study. Evidence must be provided in the form of a current nationally recognised certificate of your past studies.
The durations stated are the MINIMUM as per our partnership with Allens Training (RTO #90909). Our courses focus on demonstrating knowledge and skills and not powerpoint or lecturing on the day to complete these requirements, but must t allow time for each participant to demonstrate the requirements of the training package and standards (see training.gov.au for more).
Competency training assumes competency when the requirements of the unit are demonstrated, competency should not be assumed but demonstrated with assessment.
